About the Event
In this session I want to delve deeper into our stress relief practice by sharing our lesser known superpower to combat stress - the Vagus Nerve.
We feel stress when we are in the Sympathetic Nervous System(SNS), also known as our body's fight or flight response. When we experience stress, we activate our fight or flight response, getting the body ready to either flee the scene or fight. In our everyday experience of stress, there is no place to run or hide, and the stressful situation is not one that can easily be fought off. Most of us are not meeting tigers in the street!
Prolonged periods of fight or flight creates a multitude of wear and tear in the body both physically and emotionally plus a multitude of chronic issues from anxiety to digestive problems.
The good news is that our body has a superpower that helps with decreasing our fight or flight response.Â
The Vagus Nerve is the key to counterbalancing the fight or flight system and triggering a relaxation response in our body. It is one of the longest nerves in our Parasympathetic Nervous System(PNS) and connects the brain to the body. The vagus nerve is a major part of how our body and brain functions; it collects information from our internal organs to inform the brain - thus impacting our key metabolic functions like digestion and breathing. By stimulating the Vagus nerve we can receive powerful health benefits.
Join me for yet another session packed to the brim with ancient and modern wellbeing practices, where I will share just how easy it is to stimulate your Vagus nerve and receive many health benefits like relaxation, emotion management and an improved metabolism.Â
